Agreeing to these terms

By using Home Ready California, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. "We" and "us" mean Home Ready California, run by Devan Hemmings in Forestville, California.

You must be 18 or older to request a match.

What the site offers

Free tools that use public maps and published rules, guides, a newsletter, and a free match with an independent local pro.

Information only

Our tools and guides are for general information. They are not an official inspection, a code determination, or legal, insurance or professional advice.

Results can be wrong or out of date. Check with your local fire agency before you rely on them.

Nothing here promises insurance coverage, a discount, or that a home will survive a wildfire.

The free match

• We connect you with an independent local pro. We are not a contractor, we don't do the work, and the pro is not our employee or agent.
• Any agreement for work is between you and the pro. Get a written price, and check their license and insurance yourself, before work starts.
• We vet pros, but we don't guarantee their work, prices, timing, or that a pro is available near you.
• By sending a request, you agree to be contacted by that pro by phone, text or email about it.
• Give us accurate information. We may decline any request.

Using the site

Please don't misuse the site: no false requests, no spam, no scraping or copying the site in bulk, and no attempts to break or overload it.

Our content

The site's words, maps, design and code belong to us or the people we license them from. You may share links and use the tools for your own home. Please don't copy or resell them.

Other websites

We link to other sites for sources and resources. We don't control them and aren't responsible for them.

No warranties

The site and tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for anything a pro does or fails to do. Our total liability for any claim about the free services is limited to $100.

Your responsibility

If you misuse the site or break these terms, and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from it.

Law and disputes

California law governs these terms. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Sonoma County, California. Please contact us first. Most things can be sorted out by email.

Changes

We may change these terms or the service at any time. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the new terms.

The rest

If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms, with our privacy policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.
