Who we are

Home Ready California is a website run by Devan Hemmings in Forestville, California. He also runs Home Ready Sonoma, and the two sites share some systems. "We" and "us" mean both. Questions about this policy: hello@homereadysonoma.com.

What we collect

• What you tell us in the free match: your answers, name, phone, email, the home's address, and any notes.
• Newsletter signups: your email address.
• Messages you send us: what you write and your email address.
• How you use the site: pages viewed, clicks, device and browser type, and rough location from your IP address. We collect this with analytics tools.

The quiz saves your answers as you go, including contact details, even if you don't send the request. We never share an unsent request with a pro, and we delete unsent requests after 30 days.

An address you type into the fire zone check is sent to public mapping services (the U.S. Census Bureau, OpenStreetMap or Esri) to find it on the map. We don't keep it.

• To keep the site working, secure, and useful
• To meet legal duties

Who we share it with

• One local pro, only after you agree in the quiz. They may call, text or email you about your request. They are an independent business with their own privacy practices.
• Home Ready Sonoma, our sister site run by the same owner. Request alerts and newsletter signups pass through its systems. If your home is in Sonoma County and you choose to get a quote there, it gets your request.
• Services that run this site for us: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Resend (email alerts to us), Kit (newsletter) and PostHog (analytics). They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
• When the law requires it, or to protect people's safety or our rights.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for targeted advertising. We do not share it with others for their own direct marketing.

Cookies and analytics

We use PostHog to count visits and clicks. It may set a cookie or similar storage in your browser. We do not record your screen. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, our analytics does not load.

How long we keep it

Sent match requests: up to 2 years, so we can follow up and keep records. Unsent requests: 30 days. Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Messages: as long as needed to answer and keep records. You can ask us to delete your information sooner.

Your rights in California

California law gives you the right to:

• Know what personal information we have about you and how we use it
• Get a copy of it
• Have it corrected
• Have it deleted
• Opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell or share it, so there is nothing to opt out of.
• Not be treated differently for using these rights

To make a request, email hello@homereadysonoma.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. Someone you authorize can make a request for you. We answer within 45 days.

Texts and emails

Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. If a pro texts you, reply STOP to them to stop texts from that pro.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, like encrypted connections and limited access to the database. No system is perfectly secure.

Children

This site is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Other websites

We link to other sites, like CAL FIRE and the Department of Insurance. Their privacy practices are their own.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. Big changes will be noted on this page.
